As Russia’s war against Ukraine enters its sixth week, we assess the military situation on the ground as well as the goals and conduct of President Vladimir Putin and his regime. After high-level NATO, EU, and G7 meetings in Brussels last week, we will also discuss the role the German government has played so far in addressing the war and how consequential its declared Zeitenwende will turn out to be. As intra-alliance debate about imposing an energy embargo on Russia continues, how will Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his ruling coalition react?

Speakers:

Dr. Liana Fix, Program Director for International Affairs, Körber-Stiftung

Dr. Stefan Meister, Head of the International Order and Democracy Program, DGAP

Dr. András Rácz, Senior Associate Fellow, Security and Defense Program, DGAP

Moderator: Dr. Henning Hoff, Executive Editor, Internationale Politik Quarterly
