The German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan
Under President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan has set a new course in regional cooperation in Central Asia, opening up new opportunities for rapprochements in economic cooperation, improved infrastructure, water management, and energy supply. This development also offers new chances for the EU and its Central Asia Strategy, which has placed great emphasis on regional cooperation from the very outset after its establishment in 2007. In this panel discussion, we aim to assess the limits and opportunities in regional integration and cooperation in Central Asia, and to debate which connecting factors result for the EU’s Strategies for Central Asia and Connectivity.
