Every Thursday morning at 8:30, DGAP’s Research Institute brings together experts and high-level guests to discuss the latest developments in geopolitics. This week’s session will look at the political situation in Georgia, including its prospects for EU membership. There, despite overwhelming popular support for EU accession, the government has backpedaled on its pro-European stance and introduced a controversial bill on “agents of foreign influence” that threatens to curtail civil society. We will assess the implications of the recent mass protests in response to this move as well as the German and European responses.
This event was organized in cooperation with the Georgian Institute for Politics.
