The Second Karabakh War in 2020 and Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine have shifted the security balance in the South Caucasus. While Turkey’s role there has increased, Russia’s has diminished. Against this background, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia H.E. Nikol Paschinjan will present his view on the current security situation in the South Caucasus. He will discuss the humanitarian impact of the blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijani “ecological activists” in and around Nagorno Karabakh, ongoing peace talks, and his vision for the future of the region. Paschinjan will also speak about the latest Armenian-Turkish reproachment and his expectations of Germany and the EU.

Welcome: Rolf Nikel, Vice President, DGAP
