Dear Junge DGAP,

You are invited to a special "Off the Record talk" on “German and U.S. foreign policy toward the Middle East and North Africa - Democracy Promotion Challenged” in partnership with the American Embassy

Dina Fakoussa

Head of MENA Program at the German Council on Foreign Relations

German foreign policy toward the Middle East and North Africa

and

Peter Rough

Fellow at the Hudson Institute

U.S. foreign policy toward Europe and the Middle East

On November 14th, 19.00, at DGAP

Democracy promotion has been one of the main objectives of American and German foreign policy toward the Middle East and North Africa. In the recent past, there has been more than one example of this principle being subordinated because of multiple crisis occurring in the MENA region leading to shifts in the direction of U.S. and German foreign policy. Together with the two experts, Dina Fakoussa and Peter Rough, we will look at differences and alignments between Germany’s and the U.S. policy in the field of democracy promotion in the MENA region

This event is moderated by Caroline Assad, Junge DGAP Fellow and Joanna Klever.
