Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, now in its fourth year, continues to exacerbate the security situation in the West. In view of the Russian leadership’s persistent claim to influence – including, according to recent media-reports, efforts to shape Western internal coordination and even peace proposals – further escalation is to be expected. Germany and other European supporter states are increasingly becoming the focus of covert, asymmetrical influence operations that undermine social cohesion, political stability, and decision-making processes.
The growing sophistication and intensity of these hybrid attacks call for determined action, particularly by capable intelligence services that can detect, analyze, and counter hybrid operations at an early stage. Effective responses require coordinated approaches at both the national and European levels. Together with our guests, we will discuss current hybrid threats and explore how intelligence services in Germany and Europe can meet the challenges involved.
