Greece on the Rise and its European and Global Role
Ten years after sliding into a sovereign debt and banking crisis and eventually almost crashing out of the Euro, Greece is on track for economic recovery underpinned by an ambitious reform program. The new government that came into office last year is striving to strengthen Greece’s position as a reliable European partner and relevant actor in its region. Germany and Greece have intensified their efforts to strengthen economic cooperation.
We are honored to welcome his Excellency Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for a discussion with Dr. Daniela Schwarzer, Director of DGAP. Our guest will share his perspectives on developments in Greece, the future of Europe, the complex situation in the Eastern Mediterranean including the migration crisis as well as global developments.
Prime Minister Mitsotakis has served in his current position since July 2019 and has led the New Democracy party since 2016. He was first elected to the Hellenic Parliament in 2004 and served as Minister of Administrative Reform and e-Governance and the Leader of the Opposition.
