Every Thursday morning at 8:30, DGAP’s Research Institute brings together experts and high-level guests to discuss the latest developments in geopolitics. This week, we will focus on the worsening crisis in the Middle East. In response to the atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7, Israel launched a war against Hamas in Gaza that is proving more and more difficult to contain. In recent days, the Houthis in Yemen have stepped up their battle against ships in the Red Sea. On January 28, drone attacks by other proxies supported by Iran resulted in the deaths of three US Army soldiers at a US military base in northern Jordan. Our experts will assess the current dynamics and comment on the role that German diplomacy has played so far.
