Every Thursday morning at 8:30, DGAP’s Research Institute brings together experts and high-level guests to discuss the latest developments in geopolitics. This week, we will explore significant changes in the domestic politics of three EU member states – Netherlands, Poland, and Slovakia – following their respective parliamentary elections. We will discuss how these changes are reshaping the EU’s agenda, particularly the strategic decisions on the table at next week’s summit, which include further financial support for and the opening of membership talks with Ukraine, as well as the review of the EU’s multi-annual budget. We will also address the worrying trend of increasing fragmentation, polarization, and far-right discourse ahead of the European Parliament elections in June 2024.
