Every Thursday morning at 8:30, DGAP’s Research Institute brings together experts and high-level guests to discuss the latest developments in geopolitics. This week, we will look at the effects that international sanctions have had on military production in Russia. On the one hand, sanctions remain a strong signal of Western resolve to oppose Russia’s war against Ukraine, and they have significantly weakened its ability to wage that war. On the other, Russia is adapting to them and turning its economy into a war economy that can ramp up military production. In this light, we will discuss how Moscow has adjusted to the existing sanction regime and how it could be tightened to further weaken Russia’s military and economic power.
