Every Thursday morning, DGAP’s Research Institute brings together experts and high-level guests to discuss the latest developments in foreign affairs. This week, we will look at Russo-North Korean military cooperation and the security situation in the Indo-Pacific. North Korea’s deployment of approximately 12,000 troops to Russia has taken military cooperation between the two countries on the war against Ukraine to a new level. In turn, South Korea is debating whether to ship weapons to Ukraine. Consequently, security cooperation between NATO and Indo-Pacific partner countries may further intensify – much to the disapproval of China. Our speakers will examine to what extent these developments might lead to a dangerous expansion and escalation of Russia’s war against Ukraine. They will also showcase the growing interlinkages of the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific theaters.
