The COVID-19 crisis has shown both the very best and the limits of Franco-German cooperation. On the one hand, the reintroduction of border controls between France and Germany divided a highly integrated region. On the other, the two governments agreed on an ambitious response to the pandemic, upon which the European Commission has developed its own proposal to help the European regions and sectors most severely affected by the crisis.
On the eve of Germany’s EU Council Presidency, we will exchange views on the state of Franco-German relations with Amélie de Montchalin, French Secretary of State for European Affairs. We will also discuss her expectations for cooperation on key European issues such as the European Recovery Package.
The discussion will be held in English and includes a Q&A session with the audience.
