Roderick Kefferpütz heads the MERICS lab, which generates new ideas for innovative think tank work through exchanges with MERICS experts and external partners. As a senior analyst with MERICS, his expertise lies in geo-economics and EU-China relations.
Before joining MERICS, he was deputy head of unit for policy and strategy at the State Ministry of Baden-Württemberg. In this capacity, he was a member of numerous interministerial task forces, coordinated the Economic Advisory Council, and acted as a speechwriter for Minister-President Winfried Kretschmann. Prior to that, he was chief of staff for MEP Reinhard Bütikofer, the chair of the European Parliament’s delegation to China. Kefferpütz is an editorial board member of the Green European Journal. He holds an MPhil in Russian Studies from the University of Oxford.
