Short Bio

Alena Epifanova is a research fellow in DGAP‘s Center for Order and Governance in Eastern Europe, Russia, and Central Asia. From May 2018 to February 2021, she was a program officer in the Robert Bosch Center for Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, and Central Asia. Previously, Epifanova worked at the Centre International de formation européenne (CIFE) in a PhD support program for postgraduates in Central Asia and the Southern Caucasus. 

At the European Academy Berlin (EAB), Epifanova supported a program for good governance for officials in administrative bodies from Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia. She did freelance academic research for the journal OSTEUROPA and the Institute for European Politics (IEP).

Epifanova studied political science at the Free University of Berlin and the Altai State University (Russia). She received an International Parliamentary Scholarship of the German Bundestag (IPS) in 2015 and is an alumna of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.
