Georgios Kolliarakis has been working as Advisor for Research Strategy with DGAP since May 2018. He also serves as the Principal Investigator in the EU-funded “Mediterranean Practitioners’ Network Capacity Building for Effective Response to Emerging Security Challenges” (MEDEA, 2018-2023).

He has a track record of more than 15 years in public policy analysis. Georgios Kolliarakis has worked with the Goethe University Frankfurt (2009-2018) and the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (2005-2009) where he conducted research on strategic and organizational aspects of security policy. He has led a series of pilot interdisciplinary research projects on European security, and advises national ministries and international bodies including various UN agencies, the European Commission, the Council of Europe, and the OECD on issues of anticipatory security governance and transfer of evidence to policy.

After his engineering studies at the Technical University of Athens, Georgios Kolliarakis earned a master’s degree in political geography at the University of Bonn, and a PhD in international politics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München.
