Short Bio

Dr. Anna-Lena Kirch is an associate fellow in the Alfred von Oppenheim Center for the Future of Europe, where she previously coordinated the project “Ideenwerkstatt Deutsche Außenpolitik.” Her research interests include EU governance, German and EU foreign and security policy, urban diplomacy, and Central-Eastern Europe. Prior to DGAP, she worked at the Hertie School’s Centre for International Security, the Europe Program of the German Marshall Fund of the United States, the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), and the European Parliament. Kirch holds a PhD from Justus-Liebig-University in Gießen that focuses on sub-regional cooperation formats in the EU. She studied political science and communication at Johannes Gutenberg-University in Mainz.
