DGAP Announces Appointment of Christian Mölling

Security specialist takes up post as deputy director of the Berlin-based think tank

On February 1, 2017 Christian Mölling, a respected expert on German and European security and defense policy, joined the DGAP’s Research Institute as deputy to its Otto Wolff Director.

Mölling’s other areas of specialization include the defense industry, the EU’s Common Security and Defense Policy, and NATO. Before joining the DGAP, he held positions with the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF), the international security research division at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), the Center for Security Studies at ETH Zurich, and the Hamburg Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy. He has also been a visiting fellow at the European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) in Paris, the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) in London, and the Paris-based Fondation pour la recherche stratégique (FRS).

“Germany and Europe find themselves on the threshold of a double paradigm shift: in transatlantic relations and in shaping the new European security order,” said Mölling. “At this historic juncture, I am delighted to start working with my DGAP colleagues to further develop the council as a locus of and catalyst for foreign and security policy analysis.”
