Conversation with

H.E. Nirmala Sitharaman
Defense Minister of India

Over the past decade, security ties between India and Germany have deepened. The bilateral Defense Cooperation Agreement of 2006 aimed at deepening cooperation on security and defense issues, beyond basic armaments cooperation. Since then, annual strategic dialogues have taken place while joint defense production has increased. Cooperation today includes technology transfers, military staff trainings, the strengthening of non-proliferation and export controls, and the elimination of barriers to investment. In the discussion with India’s Defense Minister, H.E. Nirmala Sitharaman, we will discuss how both sides can cooperate in achieving their respective goals to developing regional security architectures that provide stability and secure peace. We will explore new options for future Indo-German security and defense cooperation in the context of a rapidly changing security environment.
