The German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) in cooperation with the Korea Foundation

Inter-Korean high-level consultations have gone into the third round and have gained a new momentum. Increasing exchanges, military exchanges, an “End of War Agreement” and a resumption of economic cooperation are back on the agenda. Yet, since the talks between the United States and North Korea have come to a hold, Seoul is facing several dilemmas. Seoul´s reconciliatory approach can only bear fruit of the US refrains from its maximum pressure strategy and seeks to engage in a peace process itself. This forum will serve to answer questions about achievements and obstacles during the current diplomatic efforts, what options the individual parties might have and how the government in Seoul might be able to set-up a sustainable process towards peace and denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula.
