A Conversation with Fania Oz-Salzberger

Berlin as the Emblem of German-Israeli History

13/05/2015 | 16:00 - 17:30 | DGAP Berlin | Invitation only

Category: Israel, Bilateral Relations

Fascination with Berlin, its history, and culture, has been growing, especially among younger generations of Israelis. Fania Oz-Salzberger spoke about her experiences in and with Berlin, and about her book Israelis in Berlin, which became a prism of German-Israeli dialogue upon its publication in 2001. Using Berlin as the emblem of the long and often complicated German-Israeli history, she continues to explore the ambiguous cultural and diplomatic ties between the two nations. Her talk offered a wider perspective on the changing attitudes and feelings of Israelis toward Germany over the past fifty years.

The discussion was held in English and was moderated by Dr. Sylke Tempel, Editor in Chief, INTERNATIONALE POLITIK.
