Keynote Address by

H.E. Prof. Dr. Srđan Darmanović
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro

After a long process, with a bit of geopolitical drama in the end, Montenegro is becoming the 29th member of NATO. What are the broader strategic implications for the Balkans and regional security? Russia is suspected of involvement in a coup plot during parliamentary election in October 2016. What has the special investigation uncovered so far?

This small Balkan state of 625,000 people is still deeply divided on NATO membership. Pro-Russian opposition is determined to continue with the protests and boycott of the parliament. How will the government deal with this situation in a long run and where is Montenegro heading?
