The DGAP mourns its former president Dr. Werner Lamby (1924–2015)

24. March 2015 - 0:00

The German Council on Foreign Relations honors the memory of its former president, Dr. Werner Lamby, who died on Saturday, March 21, 2015 in Bonn.

Dr. Werner Lamby served as honorary president of the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) between 1993 and 1999. One of his abiding concerns during this period was to promote the discussion of foreign policy throughout the newly reunited Federal Republic of Germany.
During his tenure as president, the Council, which had been based in Bonn since its founding in 1955, moved to its current Rauchstraße location in Berlin, opening its doors first as a branch office in 1995 and establishing its main headquarters there in 1999.
We honor Dr. Lamby’s memory and look back with gratitude on his long history of commitment to the institution.
