Die Europäische Union ist ein Staatenverbund aus 28 europäischen Ländern. Außerhalb des geographischen Europas umfasst die EU Zypern und einige Überseegebiete. Sie hat insgesamt mehr als eine halbe Milliarde Einwohner.

But in its crackdown on judicial independence, the ruling Law and Justice party (PiS) harms not only Poles but all EU citizens — as well as foreign companies in Poland that depend on impartial application of the law.

Keynote speech by Christian Danielsson, European Commission

At Tuesday at the DGAP, Christian Danielsson, Director General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations at the European Commission, gave a keynote speech about the new EU strategy for the Western Balkans. He underlined mutual interests as well as individual challenges in the accession process between the EU and the six countries of the Western Balkans.
